JOB DESCRIPTION

We are looking to add a talented Systems Administrator to our dynamic, growing, and passionate IT team. The System Administrator is on-site IT expert and professional, responsible for setting up and maintaining IT systems, servers, and infrastructure, and based in the College Station, TX. As a System Administrator you maintain the accessibility and uptime of IT systems and services and are responsible for implementation and support of the enterprise IT-infrastructure. You ensure that all IT services are maintained to a high standard and provide day to day support as required. You ensure that all incidents are properly addressed and make recommendations for improving the company’s IT systems. You configure a resilient and secure IT architecture compliant to regulations and company policies, to ensure the success of the business. This is a full-time role that reports directly to the Sr. Manager IT and Automation.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Install and upgrade computer components and software, manage physical/virtual servers, and integrate automation processes

  • Responsible for systems capacity, storage planning, database performance, and network bandwidth allocation

  • Systems Administration and support, including security patching, new system deployment, and account administration

  • Designing, deploying, and maintaining our large-scale NAS storage environments, as well as our data pipeline infrastructure.

  • Provide documentation and technical specifications to business and IT/IS staff for planning and implementing new or upgrades of IT/IS infrastructure

  • Perform and verify regular backup operations and implement appropriate processes for data protection, disaster recovery, and failover procedures.

  • Advise and consult with internal customers on risk assessment, threat modeling and fixing vulnerabilities

  • Implement and effectively develop helpdesk and IT/IS operations best practices, including expert knowledge of security, storage, data protection, and disaster recovery protocols.

  • Lead desktop and helpdesk support efforts, making sure all desktop applications, workstations, and related equipment problems are resolved in a timely manner with limited disruptions and within agreed upon service levels

  • Supervise and manage IT Helpdesk Support team to accomplish 98% of SLA on assigned tickets attention and resolution time.

  • Connect IoT objects able to collect and exchange data using embedded sensors.

  • Responsible for asset tracking and maintaining an up-to-date inventory of IT equipment.

  • Manage Network Time Protocol (NTP) time-sync services, File Transfer Protocol (FTP) and Secure File Transfer Protocol (SFTP/FTPS) services, Domain Name Services (DNS), Dynamic Configuration Host Protocol (DHCP).

  • Assist Sr. Manager with assessing and maintaining local operating costs, productivity levels, infrastructure lifecycle management, application repository management, and other metrics by analyzing and monitoring system performance and overall IT/IS infrastructure performance indicators

  • Responsible for data integrity through common Cybersecurity practices, such as proper Identity and Access Management, ensuring Advanced Threat Protection is on all client/server devices and are up to date, vulnerability patching occurs per policy, focused user training, and continuously seeking improvement to current solutions and services

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Systems Administration, or a closely related field, or equivalent experience required

  • Proven 3-5 years of network and system administration experience required; preference is given to Microsoft 365 setup and security, Azure services, Identity Management (AD/AAD), and domain administration experience.

  • System administration and IT/IS certifications in Microsoft and/or other network-related fields are required

  • Strong experience deploying and managing ESX Host VMware infrastructure. Good troubleshooting skills in Vmware vCenter & ESXi servers.

  • Working knowledge of virtualization, vSphere, Hyper-V, or equivalent is required

  • Proven Experience with scripting and automation tools

  • Prior cloud infrastructure technology experience is a plus

  • Database Administration is a plus (Microsoft SQL and Oracle)
